Northwoods League

The Challenge

As the largest organized baseball league in the world, The Northwoods League draws big crowds to more than 20 stadiums across the nation. And Northwoods recognized that every one of their fans deserved an exceptional experience from their very first interaction with the League—selecting and purchasing tickets.

Building on their existing web presence and guided by the needs of fans, Northwoods wanted to consolidate existing technology, optimize user experience, and increase flexibility with added features. But most importantly, the League needed to create a stronger ROI.

The Solution

First up, DKS dug deep to understand Northwood’s vision and business goals. We identified
roadblocks, documented processes, and crafted a solution that elevated Northwoods’ existing
technology.

That solution included a full integration of online and offline game day ticket sales for all of
the League’s 20+ stadiums. Within this solution, DKS crafted seat selector modeling for each
individual stadium so purchasers could quickly and easily select their preferred seats,
providing accurate, real-time availability.

Next up to bat was ticket scanning. New hand scanner-friendly barcodes on tickets streamlined
stadium entry for all fans, while custom integration with Google Cloud Print for real-time
printing of tickets accelerated ticketing and reduced costs.

All of this technology sat within a carefully architected custom .NET e-commerce platform,
providing Northwoods flexibility for future enhancements.

The Results

Each of the League’s 20 teams is now able to sell tickets by individual seat via a fan-friendly website, providing Northwoods with the stronger ROI they were initially seeking. The front office also has a separate, custom stadium view to use for faster, easier box office sales.

Because DKS worked to integrate ticket sales with a custom CRM, Northwoods is now able to easily interact with corporate clients and generate contracts for corporate ticket sales, further increasing ROI for the League.

Understandably, the enhanced Northwoods League system generates an enormous amount of data. To keep performance at its peak, DKS also developed a custom data warehouse with powerful reporting and tracking capabilities.
