The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) offers vital services to families with children. In addition to helping these families meet their basic needs, MFIP helps participants move to financial stability through work and are supported with necessary resources along the way. To be eligible for the program, families must provide supporting documentation via fax, mail or personal delivery. MFIP sought a simpler, more effective method of staying in touch with counselors and county workers that would eliminate communication issues and support the ability to track activity.
After determining that participants in the program had access to smartphones, DKS pioneered the birth of the MFIP Connect app for iOS and Android, along with a web application for program managers. The apps and web portal were developed to streamline the documentation process, efficiently manage tasks, and bridge communication gaps while tracking necessary participate data for the program.
Initially, the apps and web portal were piloted in three counties. After positive feedback from participants and workers as well as improved metrics across the board, MFIP plans on rolling the program more broadly.
DKS Systems has been a wonderful partner in this process. They were diligent and thoughtful in getting to know the Minnesota Family Investment Program, all the stakeholders involved, and the importance of such a technological solution to the lives of families impacted. DKS Systems has a creative and collaborative team, and that ensured we got what was best and feasible for the needs of this program.
