The Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) assists families with children to meet their basic needs, while helping participants move to financial stability through work. Parents are expected to work and are supported in working with cash, food assistance, and resources to support them on their journey.

To be eligible for benefits in the program, participants must deliver, fax, or mail documentation reflecting they met program requirements.
MFIP was looking for a simpler and more effective way to empower participants to stay in touch with counselors and county workers to track the activity and eliminate communication obstacles.
It was determined that participants on the program had access to a smart phone, allowing for the birth of the MFIP Connect app for iOS and Android along with a web application for program managers. The apps and web portal were developed to bridge the communication gap and manage tasks while tracking the necessary data for the program.
Because this was something new for the program, it started as a pilot for three (3) counties but due to its success, they plan to roll out to other areas.
DKS Systems has been a wonderful partner in this process. They were diligent and thoughtful in getting to know the Minnesota Family Investment Program, all the stakeholders involved, and the importance of such a technological solution to the lives of families impacted. DKS Systems has a creative and collaborative team, and that ensured we got what was best and feasible for the needs of this program.
