Application Integration

Industry Specific PortalModules™

Other external applications and data streams also can be integrated into the Ready Portal platform and made available as PortalModules. This capability enables the ReadyPortal platform to offer virtually any type of functionality or content that a customer might need.

The ReadyPortal Solution offers two unique ways to integrate these external applications and data streams: Live Proxy Application Publisher and External Data Stream Integration.

Live Proxy Application Publisher

A proprietary technology called Live Proxy can be used to integrate web enabled third party applications and view them within PortalModules. Live Proxy works by reading and parsing incoming HTML content from the remote site, allowing the content stream to be manipulated via a complex regular expression engine. Two-way communication occurs between the DKS web site and the site being viewed with all session information preserved, as if the user was viewing the site directly. Live Proxy can be implemented for most third party web-enabled applications and can be executed significantly faster than traditional application integration methodologies used by competitors.

External Data Stream Integration

DKS also provides a modular, highly configurable system for the display and management of data - both structured and unstructured. This provides the building blocks for the "External Content Source" feature as well as the framework for structured data workflow support. Various external data streams can be brought into the DKS system and processed. These streams can easily be configured to update on a predetermined schedule. Supported external data types include: RSS, RDF, HTML - local and remote, XML, ICE, RTF, text, even remote database access and SQL queries, via a unique JDBC access layer.

This system is used to support flexible structured data workflows, creating an easily configurable, multiple step processing pipeline, in which general-purpose filter components can be added or removed as required to customize the processing. The ability to combine and create filters allows the system to support new workflows very easily. Basic filter types such as splitters and aggregators allow data streams to be easily split or combined, allowing superior security as well as a highly customizable viewing mechanism. This mechanism facilitates a true two-way XML communication mechanism that can allow for very complex transactions such as member database synchronization, single user sign-on, and other B2B style transactions, as well as providing a highly configurable for viewing external data within the portal. Filters can easily be developed to allow support for emerging standards such as SOAP, EBXML and .NET.
